Managers 'need to take responsibility for motivation'

Date: 01/07/2009

As well as pressures brought about by the current economic climate, there are also several other factors which play a major part in bringing about personal worries in the heads of workers, it is said.

GL Hoffman of US News explained that today people are concerned about their career goals and are quick to lose performance and morale should they not be fulfilling such preset criteria during their day-to-day jobs.

He continued: "I am struck by the lack of understanding about the connection between what they do at work and how that ultimately benefits their company."

However, this is not something people can merely blame on a lack of commitment from these individuals, Mr Hoffman added.

He said: "Of course the responsibility for an employee who can't make that connection lies squarely at management's feet."

Keeping employees engaged will turn them into one of the most important, if not the main, asset of a company, according to Express Computer this month.

It noted that any drops in performance brought about by lack of engagement could result in many companies' curtain calls.
