Managers are being advised to make the most of incentives and recognition in boosting employee motivation.
Keeping morale up and recognising good work are some of the greatest responsibilities bosses have, states the Examiner.
"A pat on the back goes a long way in keeping an employee focused and interested in her work," the news provider explains.
It urges managers to establish clear goals and responsibilities, create a positive environment, reward success and keep workers up-to-speed.
By doing these things, motivation will come from within employees, as they will want to be active members of the company.
Last month, the use of plants in the office was highlighted as a way to increase performance and boost employee motivation.
Ray Borg, head of Ambius Asia-Pacific, pointed out that research from the University of Technology in Sydney showed that plants also lower stress levels.
