Management success 'found through mentoring'
Date: 11/12/2008
A steady progression into management positions can be ensured through the use of mentoring, according to one expert.
Managing director for Stark Brooks Sally Toumi said that team building and working alongside somebody who is already in the role can have huge benefits for staff.
The expert said that ten years ago, "there was a very clear move from one role into a management position and there was no support mechanism in place to actually ensure somebody's success".
Ms Toumi said that people need to get wise when it comes to the benefits of training or a company event as she believes that otherwise, many people will fail when they reach these positions.
Earlier this year, it was understood that 17 per cent of UK employees intend to leave their current position as soon as the opportunity arises, according to research released by market research company GfK NOP, with 12 per cent planning to move on within the next 12 months.
