Effective managers know that ensuring that workers can identify with their company's success can be a more effective motivator than cash incentives alone, it has been stated.
Warning that employee morale across a number of sectors is currently at a low as a result of the downsizing, one Canadian HR expert has advised businesses to make sure their staff feel appreciated and are able to enjoy incentives and recognition.
"If you only remember one thing, it's to invite your people to participate in their own success," Andrew Reid, founder of Toronto-based HR consulting and coaching firm, Big Fish Interactive, told the Canadian Metro.
"If I'm invited, I'm being recognised for strengths and talents that I have. It's that simple," he added.
In particular, he noted that allowing workers to share in goals then enables them to enjoy their accomplishment as equals, with this one of the most cost-effective sales incentives available to managers.
These tips come as academics working at Roehampton University have warned that the number of Britons suffering from stress and depression as a result of job insecurity fears is on the rise.
