Makes incentives and recognition 'more achievable'

Date: 24/08/2009

There is no harm in making small incentives and recognition rewards easier to achieve at the end of the year, it has been said.

Susan M Heathfield, a motivation and performance guru writing for About.com, spoke of a time when a recognition scheme duly awarded employees who practiced team work, went the extra mile and contributed to the overall success of the company.

However, the first year was so broad in terms of criteria that all employees seemed to qualify.

Despite this, Ms Heathfield argued that if everyone achieves the targets set out, the company has every right to be happy to dish out the credit for these successes.

She concluded: "We worked with the committee to establish realistic criteria that made the award special, yet achievable. With solid criteria that differentiated nominees in place, the awards were viewed as special, rewarding, and motivational, once again."

At the end of September, Employee Benefits Live is to host a number of conferences for those interested in incentives and recognition, taking place at the Business Design Centre in Islington between September 29th and 30th.
