An expert in matters relating to motivation has highlighted the need for people to be included in the ethos and advancement of the place they work for.
In an attempt to improve performance through motivating employees, James T Harris III of Widener University made his comments to Smart Business Philadelphia, stating that reward and recognition were essential in keeping morale high.
The expert explained a method he uses with his workers at the university, showing that the smallest reward can make a great amount of difference.
He said: "Every week, we put out a new face of an employee who is doing something to advance the university, and we highlight them on our website.
"I think that helps people feel good about the university and where we're heading."
Mr Harris' comments follow a big point made by Rogers Odima of Business Daily, who said that human resources are the "yeast" of any company and must be given the right environment to want to develop their skills.
