Companies which need to enhance employee morale and performance should not only implement a reward and recognition scheme but also ensure that this recognition goes as far as possible, it is said.
According to Jeffrey Gitomer in a piece for the Eagle Tribune, it was asserted that reward and recognition is a stimulus package that all workers will subscribe to in one sense or another, providing it is applied to the workplace correctly.
He explained: "There is the incentive for that person to maintain or improve his or her performance to stay at the top. And there is huge stimulus for others in the audience to try to win an award next year."
Mr Gitomer added that this can be easily enhanced through posting up achievements on blogs, websites and magazines as this can motivate employees to do better in future to make sure it is their name on each publication.
Last week, HR Magazine reported on telecommunications giant Orange's new initiative to improve performance in its sales department.
