Low employee confidence 'requires motivational boost'

Date: 26/02/2009

A lack of communication in the office is leading to a lack of employee confidence in their job, it has been stated.

Honest communication has been found to improve the quality of worker morale, according to Threshold.

James Brooke, the company's director, said the "holy grail" for many companies is for them to help employees feel a large amount of enthusiasm for their jobs.

He continued: "The results of our research suggest that not only does good communication engender enthusiasm, it also helps employees to align themselves positively to their company's future, even if the economic outlook is uncertain."

Mr Brooke said it was more crucial than ever for companies to listen and respond to their employees, support their performance through motivation and focus on team building.

At the beginning of the month, the Learning and Skills Council said that many older employees can help with team building exercises as their experience is good for younger members of the workforce.
