Leadership and motivation can be undermined by senior employees

Businesses should be wary that their employees can undermine attempts to boost leadership and motivation if they do not act responsibly.
According to new research conducted by accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, taking a top-down approach to ethical working practices is vital if reward and recognition and employee motivation initiatives are to be effective.
Chief executives, chairmen and the heads of human resource departments should all lead by example, if their policies are to drift down and be adopted by other employees.
PwC director Tracey Groves claimed that a lot of workers are "still struggling to walk the proverbial walk at senior levels".
"A further motivating factor is that organisations will gain competitive advantage by strengthening the organisation's value and goodwill with investors and customers through the building of integrity and trust," she added.
Motivation expert Patrick James Duffy recently told Seaway News that good team building relies on good communication.
