Leadership 'key' to determining acceptance of work-process changes
Date: 06/05/2010
Leadership and motivation strategy is key to ensuring that new changes in work-practices are accepted by employees, it has been claimed.
It is often very difficult for business leaders to "sell" changes in a work process to employees, according to David Lawrence, writing in an article for Financial Advisor magazine.
He suggested that an important part of ensuring employees accept changes is to "create a sense of ownership", perhaps by making work strategies part of team building activities.
Mr Lawrence explained that business managers should seek to align the aims of their business with those of their employees.
Recent research published by Kenexa indicates that employees have been more lenient in their assessment of employers in light of the economic downturn.
However, analysis by the firm suggests that this is changing, manifesting itself in declining confidence.
UK employees were among the least confident in their employers, while workers in the US and France also had less believe in their managers' leadership than in previous surveys.
