The skills of a Scottish venue as a viable conference centre have been outlined by a major British organisation.
The London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) was going to head to South America to hold its annual conference but instead chose the Edinburgh Convention Bureau (ECB) after recognising it as a good place for such events as live brand experiences and team building conferences.
Sue Stuart, the chief executive of the ECB, said that economic circumstances validate the organisation's strategy of presenting Edinburgh as its alternative destination.
She added that "UK organisations and corporations who wish to demonstrate prudence in the current economic climate" are doing the right thing by consulting organisations such as the ECB.
Ms Stuart concluded: "We have identified an opportunity to promote Edinburgh's world-class conferencing credentials to event organisers and corporations."
This week, it was revealed by the Herald Express that developers in Devon have submitted blueprints to South Hams Council for the creation of a new event space after four years of consultation with locals.
