Companies hoping to get involved with environmentally-friendly initiatives should harness the power of their workforce to improve motivation and job satisfaction, an expert has stated.
In a piece for Climate Change Corp, Brendan May said that workers are the greatest advocates of the business and by motivating employees through reward and recognition programmes or a company event, they can tell the outside world how responsible the company is.
He continued: "You can reach millions through good employee engagement, as well as motivating a workforce that expects its bosses to be engaging on issues they read about every day."
Furthermore, Mr May stated that companies should check with big names in the environmental industry as to whether or not their initiative is sound, particularly non-governmental organisations and other such "key barometers" of opinion.
It was recently revealed by Simon Montague of Eurostar that many businesses are taking advantage of rail travel due to its lower carbon emissions.
