Innovative communication 'can boost employee motivation'

Date: 20/09/2010

Using innovative communication methods can help to boost employee motivation, it has been claimed.

According to law firm Davies Arnold Cooper, employers - and in particular HR managers - are using a greater range of communication methods to ensure staff remain engaged and motivated.

The firm claims that while traditional communication methods, such as team briefings, remain the core way of engaging staff, other employee motivation methods such as team building corporate events are becoming increasingly important.

Speaking to HR Magazine, Wendy Trehy, employment partner at Davies Arnold Cooper, said: "Studies show that a highly engaged workforce drives deeper customer loyalty, increased productivity and profitability.

"However, the problem that organisations are facing now is how to motivate employees in the current economic climate."

She added that new reward and recognition programmes need to be carefully considered - especially where their legality is concerned.

Katy Nicholson, researcher for the Keep Britain Working campaign, recently said that sales incentive programmes are vitally important to employee motivation.
