Indian approach to incentives and recognition is 'impressive, different'
Date: 16/04/2010
There are four distinct elements of Indian businesses, according to a new report compiled by experts in the US.
In a new piece for the Economic Times, it was detailed how professors of management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania recently compiled their opinions about the state of Indian business and how engagement, incentives and recognition work in the country.
They first noted the level of holistic engagement with employees. "Indian business leaders see their firms as organic enterprises, where sustaining employee morale and building company culture are critical obligations and the very foundations of their success," the news resource explained.
Secondly, improvisation and adaptability are needed and many "rely on their wits" to overcome hurdles they confront on a day-to-day basis in the current economic environment.
The other two pointers discovered were the value of services to organisations, as well as broader missions and purposes, as Indian business leaders put major emphasis on personal values and personnel, meaning incentives and recognition may be central to such organisations.
