Many companies may find it difficult to motivate their staff following a number of job cuts, though the use of a simple yet effective incentive scheme may be all that is needed, one expert has said.
Henry Unger, writing for business specialist AJC, highlighted the good work put in by US Home Depot chairman and chief executive officer Frank Blake, who implemented a programme which applied to all 300,000 of his employees.
The use of "homer badges" was re-launched by the organisation two years ago, which now rewards and recognises the hard work put in by staff in terms of customer service and other so-called "model behaviours".
Furthermore, the fears of employees in the troubled economy have been allayed through a success sharing initiative, which is essentially a bonus programme created through a team building ethic designed to draw people together in the workforce and up performance.
Another company which recently improved its incentive scheme is Kellogg's, which made its reward and recognition package as clear to understand as possible to improve staff loyalty.
