Improving brand image 'can boost employee retention'

Date: 12/04/2010

More firms are focusing on their brand image and how this will attract new staff, using social media to boost employee loyalty.

A report in People Management stated that Coca-Cola and Siemens are among the firms aiming to win over top talent by improving their brand image.

The drinks firm has launched a multi-language careers website where potential staff can see if they fit with the firm, with Stephen Mulvenna, Coca-Cola's talent manager for Europe, adding: "Two of our aspirations are to be recognised as an employer of choice and to be a great place to work."

Vera Janssens, vice president of corporate and marketing communications at Siemens southwest Europe, added that senior managers at the firm are incentivised to retain talent and keep skilled workers, saying that clear dialogue is one way to do this.

Writing for Inc, Josh Spiro recently claimed that employee motivation needs to go one step further to retain staff, focusing on the things that demotivate them as well as the incentives.
