Importance of eco-friendly company events highlighted

Date: 14/07/2009

Following the third annual independent eco audit, MotivAction is urging other companies to improve their environmental performance, especially during things such as company events.

The Eco-audit Return Visit Report revealed that MotivAction has maintained many of the steps it has taken to reduce its impact on the environment.

Progress made to date includes an increase in recycling to 77 per cent - more than twice the national average of 35 per cent and a 29 per cent drop in electricity use on the baseline year.

Overall, the company has seen a nine per cent drop per employee in total emissions since 2008.

It is now calling on UK firms to do their bit for the environment, especially when planning company events.

By turning down the heating, ensuring computer equipment is fully shutdown and sharing lifts to and from events, they can save energy, the environment and money, MotivAction explains.

People can calculate their carbon footprint on the MotivAction website and get tips on how to reduce their energy use.
