Impacted morale can 'affect security'

Date: 21/01/2010

If businesses fail to spot or deal with low morale or other similar issues in the workplace, they will be unable to keep their business secure, according to one expert.

Ed Moyle of TechNewsWorld explained that when morale dips, IT security is put at higher risk as some workers can become indifferent to doing their jobs properly which managers should look at seriously and consider incentives and recognition as a means of repairing this.

He said that employees who are stressed, overworked or fatigued - due to deadlines, low staffing levels, increased work volume, and so on - are much less likely to have the time to ensure that proper procedures are appropriately followed.

By sorting out a question and answer session through a team building conference, organisations may be able to address these problems, Mr Moyle concluded.

This week, Florent Francoeur, the president and chief executive officer of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agrees, advocated the use of incentives and recognition as a way of quelling fears relating to the recession.
