Healthy initiatives are 'great idea' for the workplace

Date: 15/03/2010

Healthy initiatives in the workplace will be very important for the overall fortunes of a business, according to a new report.

Dave Priestly of PruHealth explained that there are too many benefits for businesses to ignore the possibilities of taking a proactive approach to issues surrounding productivity and morale and their links to healthy ways.

He cited that major issues included "reduced sickness absence, improved productivity, more effective recruitment and retention, improved staff satisfaction and reduced risk of litigation".

Mr Priestly was keen to point out, however, that individuals ought to ensure that their programme must be, like any incentives and recognition scheme, tailored to the needs of a company, working alongside such ideas to produce a well-received scheme that will be taken on board by all echelons of a company.

Recently, this year's Kelly Global Workforce Index revealed that the economic downturn has led to a powerful sense of engagement between employers and workers.
