In order to improve the quality of team building conferences in the area, the government is giving a Portsmouth venue £960,000 to revamp a leading location.
According to the Portsmouth News, the Treadgolds Centre is to become a cutting edge venue for team building corporate events, beginning with a partial demolition before adding to the surviving structure to make it more appealing to people living further away from the location.
Jane de Bathe, the project ambassador for Learning Links - the company which operates the conference centre, told the newspaper that the redevelopment of the historic site provides the city with a "much needed not-for-profit sector office".
She continued: "It will also create a conference venue that, with careful planning, will retain a heritage museum as a tourist attraction for the city.
"Everyone involved is thrilled and looking forward to the centre opening next year."
There are a number of sights to be seen in Portsmouth and nearby Gosport, with the Spinnaker Tower providing corporate visitors with a great view, standing at 170 metres tall.
