Google uses terrifying robot for employee motivation

Giant walking robots may seem more connected to a sci-fi future than as a tool for leadership and motivation, but search giant Google apparently thinks they're just the thing for team building activities.

The eight-legged and environmentally-friendly Mondo Spider, which is capable of Tweeting its activities online, recently provided employee motivation at a corporate conference hosted by the search firm, a blog piece on Smartplanet.com revealed.

Following a talk from two Google engineers at San Francisco's Moscone Center regarding the future of web, mobile and enterprise applications, attendees had a chance to spend time getting to know the arachnoid.

"The Mondo Spider presence will provide a welcome break for attendees and inspire them to rethink energy through art," said the creators of the robotic spider, eatART.

Powered by a 48V lithium iron phosphate battery pack, the Mondo Spider is also famous for making an appearance at the Burning Man festival in 2006.
