Good management will 'definitely deliver on expectations'
Date: 22/01/2010
There are a plethora of examples showing that poor quality of management and leadership in the UK is central to the prospect of a disengaged workforce, one expert has concluded.
Continuing her emphasis on incentives and recognition, Ruth Spellman, the chief executive of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), said that this notion is backed up by the government-commissioned MacLeod report in 2009.
She emphasised that the report demonstrates that employee engagement has never been as important as now, particularly given the benefits to organisations which cannot be ignored.
"A truly engaged organisation can expect to experience high levels of staff loyalty, retention, productivity, innovation and profitability as well as low levels of absenteeism," Ms Spellman continued.
"Given the current economic climate, these cannot be ignored as they are the stepping stones towards future, long-term success."
The CMI is the only chartered professional body in the UK that is solely dedicated to management and leadership.
