Good leadership needs a personal touch

Date: 04/10/2010

Successful leadership and motivation requires a personal touch from managers.

According to Helium writer and employment expert Gabby Bugwadia, businesses cannot achieve their potential if they fail to capitalise on strong management skills that are tailored to every area of their company.

Ms Bugwadia claimed that good leadership and motivation is the key to boosting employee engagement and running a successful business.

She added that good leaders often take a positive approach and instil a hopeful attitude in employees, no matter what role they play in the success of the company.

However, she claimed that employee motivation should not be put ahead of absolutely everything else - a move which can often be to the detriment of growing firms.

"A good business leader is distinctly goal oriented," she wrote.

She added: "Good business leadership entails fusing together one's interests, expertise, skills and experience and striving hard to succeed."

Her comments about positivity in the workplace were echoed by employee coaching specialist Nicholas Zart, who told the Examiner that staff should be reminded of the reasons they started working for an organisation in the first place.
