GCCC closer to agreement over conference venue
Date: 10/03/2010
Gloucestershire Country Cricket Club (GCCC) is much closer to developing its stadium into a facility with extensive team building conference amenities, among others.
The club, which is based in Bristol, is hoping to become one of several chosen venues for the international cricket matches by increasing its seating capacity by 4,000 while also building a world-class media centre and creating extended gym facilities.
Bristol City Council planning officers have recommended the approval of the two applications submitted by the club, but it is for councillors to make a final decision on the plans at a meeting today (March 10th).
Rex Body, chairman of GCCC, said of the plans: "It is difficult to stress the importance of the proposed developments to our long term future in Bristol, not only for the county team and the club as a whole but also for our surrounding community."
Bristol City FC is also having a ground developed and is scheduled for opening in 2011, also fitted with team building corporate event facilities.
