A group of workers from a world-famous car maker have taken part in a successful team building corporate event with a very philanthropic feel to it.
The Essex Echo detailed the efforts of two separate teams from the Ford Motor Company, which has pioneered a corporate citizenship scheme allowing employees to enter the real world for two days a month to help a local cause, such as schools or charities.
Fair Havens Hospice, which looks after people of all ages in Westcliff, had its gardens treated to a full makeover that was hailed as a "fantastic job" by care home director Sharon Paradine.
Dave Todd, an employee who led the team building corporate event, told the newspaper: "Most of us are office-based, even though we're mainly engineers, so it's really nice to get out and get stuck in.
"It's a great team-building exercise for us and good fun. We often learn new skills as well as getting the satisfaction of helping others."
Last week, Bytestart recommended a number of tips on behalf of the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, noting that team building corporate events can improve loyalty and help staff to focus on a company's common goals.
