Firms 'using wellbeing schemes'

Date: 18/12/2008

Firms in the north-east are embracing certain types of staff incentives schemes, according to a source.

Businesses in the region are sending members of staff on wellbeing programmes to help workers avoid taking days off through illness, reports Chroniclelive.co.uk.

The news provider states the development of a new £32 million centre for firms to use in order to address this issue is set to further drive up the number of employers doing so.

Mike Picken, associate director of healthcare and employee benefits division at Henderson Insurance Brokers, told the source such schemes, which may include team bonding and educational exercises, can help businesses.

He added: "Making sure your staff have access to occupation-specific health and wellness programmes helps to ensure they are healthy, energetic and physically and mentally capable to get the job done."

Recently, Sally Toumi, managing director for Stark Brooks, commented that firms can successfully progress workers to management positions through mentoring.ADNFCR-2060-ID-18936147-ADNFCR
