A human resources (HR) professional who is now working for a group of residential and nursing homes has highlighted her preference for staff incentives and motivation over simple "change programmes".
In an interview with Personnel Today, Moira Brown, the dedicated senior HR expert at Care South, has experience working in other projects in such environments as Granada Television and Barclays, adding that motivating employees under pressure is one of the greatest skills to have in the workplace.
She told the news provider that worker retention and engaging employees through performance-based reward and recognition schemes was a much better way to get the most out of a business, with headcount-reducing ideas usually working to the detriment of an organisation.
Commenting on her current placement, Ms Brown emphasised: "Part of why I was brought in was to continue to build on the training and development of care workers, not least to help them see social care as a career."
According to a winter release by Care South, Ms Brown recently chose to theme its annual awards ceremony with a "feel proud" outlook, emphasising the achievements of all who attended due to their high-quality credentials.
