ExCeL London announces £6 million in conference business
Date: 05/03/2010
Just six months after being named as London's first international convention centre (ICC), ExCeL London has secured £6 million worth of events business, it has been revealed.
The facility, which serves as one of the biggest venues in the UK, is to be officially opened as the ICC London ExCeL in May this year and a number of team building conferences and other get-togethers are being booked at the convention centre all the way up until 2015.
Forthcoming events include a meeting of the European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology in 2014, which will bring around 8,000 delegates to London.
James Rees, director of conferences and events at ExCeL London, said: "The sheer number and quality of events that ICC London ExCeL is attracting, clearly illustrates why London and indeed the industry as a whole has needed an international convention centre."
In the first event of its kind in the UK, ExCeL will see the London Rollergirls' London Brawling team playing against the Texas Hustlers in the first US v UK roller derby bout ever.
