Although a team building conference is primarily concerned with the group dynamic, managers must take care to look at the wider picture when addressing workers, it has been highlighted.
Kimberly Douglas, in her book The Firefly Effect: Build Teams That Capture Creativity and Catapult Results, explained that teams must be allowed to individually raise points at a team building corporate event, otherwise issues would not be fully addressed.
She explained that a team should write down their thoughts before sharing them as this gives them the chance to think about how they can best phrase their points in order to ensure the message gets across as they want.
Citing one situation she once experienced, Ms Douglas also said that a team leader leaving the room can also give valuable feedback following a brief discussion between staff.
She added: "Their respectful but candid feedback, which she accepted graciously and without defensiveness, went a long way toward building a strong bond between them."
Ms Douglas opinion highlights the importance of teamwork to achieve such a goal - something CO2 Partners believes is necessary to cut out dictatorial-style managerial measures but also curb more outgoing behaviour.
