Environmentally-friendly improvements 'save businesses money'

A government body has highlighted the benefits of environmentally-friendly additions to the workplace, emphasising the money-saving qualities of such schemes.

Business Link adviser Erica Russell stated: "Things like basic insulation, something that anybody can do, that's something that there is a lot of funding around for too. So it can be big business but it can also be very small business."

She added that many customers in the current market are looking for environmentally-friendly credentials in their choice of company or provider and in effect, their custom would make even better profits for a company willing to put money aside for energy-saving schemes.

Comments from Ms Russell follow a survey by Startups, which found that 20 per cent of a company's energy bill can be saved with simple changes to the working environment, such as switching lights and computer screens off on a night.
