Engaged employees are a "great asset"

Date: 01/07/2009

If a company does not invest in employee engagement programmes with such methods as reward and recognition, it stands to lose money through a drop in performance, it has been stated.

Express Computer explained that with lay-offs, job cuts and salary freezes or falls, many organisations may be overlooking the extra effort that needs to be put into motivating employees.

To achieve this, consistent communication is necessary to really create an atmosphere conducive to a marked improvement in performance, with a number of other schemes needed to stem the possibility of a build-up of workplace stress, Express Computer stated.

Furthermore, open house discussions in a group regarding the problems which are found in the workplace, as well as a place for suggestions, will create a better team building environment, it was added.

Earlier this month, Keep Britain Working revealed that managers are the keepers of the delicate balance of emotions in the workplace and should not jeopardise performance through unfair demands.
