An employers' association has highlighted the importance of reward and recognition in the current economic climate.
Capital Associated Industries, a training firm in North Carolina which plans to hold free classes for local businesses in incentive programmes and performance, explained that through gift certificates, plaques, corporate hospitality events and verbal recognition, a business stands to succeed in improving morale.
Bruce Clarke, the president and chief executive officer of CAI, said: "Whatever you do, make sure it's focused on attracting, motivating, and challenging your staff, and understand that not everyone is motivated by money."
He added that companies across the world must get the best value out of their money in the current climate, so people need to consider great ways to invest in reward and recognition without "breaking the bank".
Earlier this week, Sara McKinty of Sellick Partnership told the Belfast Telegraph that a company must use incentives as a prevention and not a cure to a drop of performance.
