Employees 'may prefer bonus over holiday as motivation'

Date: 17/06/2009

Many individuals in workplaces are happy to trade in holidays for more work and pay, according to a new survey.

The Daily Telegraph has reported on the latest release by Aon Consulting, which found that over a third of employees in the UK would be happy to sell their holiday allowance during the forthcoming year - something many companies may want to take into account when implementing a reward scheme.

Gareth Ashley-Jones, a representative of the company, said that people during times like these are more concerned with saving money than most other things.

He continued: "The rise in holiday selling is likely to be a direct result of people hoping to boost their income particularly where employers have withheld or restricted annual pay rises.

"Many may also feel that spending more time in the office will make them more valued by their employer."

Flexible working may also be a great way to improve performance, according to a recent poll by Citrix Online, which found that morale would be enhanced by the ability to stay at home and tend to other matters alongside work.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19223156-ADNFCR
