East Midlands Trains has announced that it is launching a reward and recognition programme to give credit to its staff and aid in motivating employees, it has been announced.
Called STARS, the scheme will initially involve a paper-based system of thank you cards which will be awarded by managers to workers for their ongoing contributions to respect, professionalism, communication, honesty and team building, according to Online Recruitment.
This will be complemented with an online service which will allow employees to see their achievements, thus giving the staff incentives to work harder.
Online Recruitment continued: "The programme also includes proven reward techniques such as certificates, lapel pins and celebration lunches to ensure that deserving staff are recognised and valued for their contribution to the company."
The announcement comes soon after comments made by human resources expert Moira Brown, who told Personnel Today this month that cutting jobs is much less effective than any performance-based reward and recognition programmes put in place.
