A recent survey has found that employees will, on the whole, overrate their abilities in the job they do, emphasising the desire many may have to raise performance in the workplace.
The Beacon Group revealed in new research that 50 per cent of managerial assessments of staff came out lower than the employee's personal beliefs about their capabilities.
Employees were rated on such abilities as team building, communication and decision making, with a trend emerging that shows many are overestimating their abilities, perhaps highlighting the need for a corporate event to reaffirm skills and bonds between different levels of an organisation.
Responding to the results of the questionnaire, director at the company Michael Sitayeb said: "It's common for employees to overrate their abilities and this becomes a more pronounced trend during recessions when individuals attempt to promote their value to the organisation."
In a bid to enhance the working environment and improve performance from this week, Orange announced to HR Magazine that it had launched a new reward and recognition scheme.
