Employee motivation could be 'as simple as a thank you'

Date: 09/04/2010

Sometimes, businesses must recognise talent, ability and good work on base terms - perhaps by simply saying thank you, it is asserted.

Rozaine Cooray of the Sunday Times explained that many key qualities of a corporate relationship - loyalty, trust, teamwork, decision making and situational leadership - are very relevant to personal associations and whatever the relationship is, appreciation is always recognised and desired by workers.

As a result, a simple thank you will go a long way as part of an incentives and recognition scheme.

Ms Cooray added: "Appreciation is a thankful recognition. It fosters positive relationships and builds on the strengths of a person, place or situation."

She added that to maintain the "healthy union", appreciation must be both "regular and constant", instead of simply limiting it to award ceremonies and special occasions.

This month, it was revealed by the Deccan Herald that business chiefs are looking to blur boundaries between work and fun to boost worker morale and, therefore, production levels.
