Employee motivation techniques do not need to be expensive and can even cost companies nothing at all, an expert has claimed.
Maria Collins, writing for Helium, has highlighted the fact that they do require some thought and should be considered carefully.
She emphasised the fact that many people feel the need to be appreciated by their co-workers and bosses and that this can be an easy way to boost employee motivation.
The organisation of the office and the way that it is maintained can also have a strong impact on how staff feel about their jobs, she said.
Ms Collins added: "Is the office clean and comfortable? A dirty, uncomfortable workplace lowers morale and saps confidence."
Lighting is another key area for companies to focus on as this can also have an indirect effect on employee motivation.
Earlier this month, guidelines published by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, the Health and Safety Executive, Acas and the Health, Work and Wellbeing programme emphasised the importance of cutting workplace stress.
