Employee motivation 'boosts business'
Date: 20/07/2010
Engaged and motivated staff will bring improved performance and benefits to their firms, a professional has stated.
Writing for a white paper that was partially published on Public Service, Nick Mitchell explained why reward and recognition make sound business sense.
He pointed out that engaged workers are less likely to take time off through illness and are also better equipped to undergo change within the company.
Mr Mitchell also pointed out the link between products and services and noted that customer satisfaction and word of mouth are strongly driven by staff.
"Customer advocacy is almost totally dependent on employee engagement," he claimed.
The expert called for leadership over management and a "holistic approach to people" in order to create more engaged and productive workforces.
A recent study from Modern Survey has found that employee engagement has fallen in the US financial services in the past year.
This mirrors a drop in employee engagement that has been seen in other industries within the US.
