Two-thirds of those currently in employment would leave their current job if they were offered something better, according to a survey by Hays.
Economic uncertainty within the country would not stop 19 million people from moving on, which shows the importance of employee motivation with more staff incentives giving staff a reason to stay.
Of those who aren't looking for work, four in ten said it was because they like their job, showing that it is not just financial gain which is important to people in the workplace.
Only 11 per cent of those not looking stated that leaving would mean they missed their work colleagues, so investing in team building exercises could be exactly what these firms need in order to up staff retention.
The recent Health of the Workplace report found 41 per cent of the UK's workforce felt they were overworked.
Charles Logan, director at Hays, said: "Employers need to take urgent steps to re-engage and motivate staff, or they risk losing skilled and experienced workers."
