Employee motivation: Trust, pride and camaraderie make the best places to work

Date: 31/10/2011

Employees being able to trust management, having pride in their workplace and engaging in friendly camaraderie with fellow employees are what make the best workplaces.

This is according to the Great Place to Work Institute who have just released a list of the top 25 multinational companies to work for.

Microsoft made it to the top spot, with seven companies which operate in the UK making it onto the list too, including Diageo and Telefonica.

Access to learning and development and incentives and recognition were also named as reasons why companies were good places to work.

Employing 90,819 people, the average age of a Microsoft employee is 38.5 and the company experiences $69.9 billion in global revenue.

Jose Tolovi, global CEO for the Great Place to Work Institute, told USA Today: "At the best companies, even the lowest-level employees know they are part of the team. They know that they have a common goal."
