Around 90 per cent of bosses want to offer their staff flexible incentives and recognition, research has revealed.
According to a study by Thomsons Online Benefits, the majority of employers believe that staff engagement and improved performance is one of the key benefits from flexible benefits.
But only 38 per cent of companies have a written reward strategy, the research shows, so incentives and recognition are flexible rather than being fixed.
Michael Whitfield, chief executive officer at Thomsons Online Benefits, highlighted the upcoming pension reforms, and said that safeguards must be taken that mean employees understand the implications of the changes.
"Employers need to explicitly understand the implications of these pension reforms for their pension scheme," Mr Whitfield said.
"Although the situation has improved, too many people are uncertain and, given the market trend, may be assuming that there will be no impact."
Recent research from Deloitte suggested that one-third of businesses will improve employee motivation around the time of the London 2012 Olympics by offering staff flexible working.
