One-third of businesses will aim to improve employee motivation during the London 2012 Olympic Games by allowing flexible working, research has revealed.
According to business advisory firm Deloitte, 32 per cent of bosses say they would be happy for staff to take time off to watch the Games if they make up the hours another time.
And over 40 per cent say they plan to install screens in the workplace to allow staff to watch live events.
Heather Hancock, London 2012 lead partner at Deloitte, said: "It is encouraging to see businesses thinking ahead about the potential impact the Games could have on their day-to-day operations.
"We know the period of the Olympic and Paralympic Games will not be business as usual, especially in London."
"As at all times, the priority will be to meet client needs but businesses need to factor in high numbers of staff wanting to attend or watch live events," Ms Hancock added.
This follows advice from Celia Donne, writing for HR Magazine, who recommended allowing flexible working as staff incentives and recognition, as it encourages a more productive and loyal workforce.
