Employee morale 'boosted by de-cluttering'

Date: 13/01/2010

In order to boost productivity, an organisation may want to make their office much less cluttered with objects and papers, according to a new collaboration.

Office Depot and the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) have launched a campaign to help business professionals to get themselves organised early in 2010.

Businesses may want to liaise with their staff in team building conferences to figure out how it can be done, noting that while workers agree that messy desks cost them time, 32 per cent of respondents admitted to having a disorganised workspace while another 45 per cent confessed to cleaning up once a month or less.

Laura Leist, president of NAPO, said: "Every business professional knows being organised pays dividends, from increased productivity to the satisfaction of being able to actually see past the piles on your desk.

"The biggest challenge is knowing where and how to start as well as finding the motivation to do so."

Earlier this month, Canadian Manufacturing emphasised how businesses may want to use incentives and recognition to rally their staff, though improved communication to boost things on the bottom line is essential.
