Effective communication 'has positive effects on employee motivation'

Date: 13/03/2009

A new study has found that despite cost-cutting measures and layoffs being on the rise, communication can still keep chins up in the workplace.

In a survey carried out by the Opinion Research Corporation, employees are twice as likely to go that "extra mile" for their company and four times more likely to recommend their workplace should communication levels be high and feedback be forthcoming in difficult situations.

Lisa Wojtkowiak, an employee engagement practice expert, said: "Positive perceptions around company communications serve to both boost motivation levels among current employees as well as foster employee advocacy, ultimately resulting in a strengthened employee brand."

She added that with this strategy, a business will be more able to attract and retain its top talent, with a back-to-basics approach highly recommended in regards to feedback.

Earlier this month, Suzanne Bates of Bates Communications emphasised that a conversational approach to interaction between managers and staff must be maintained for the good of the company.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19073961-ADNFCR
