Date: 15/12/2009
Businesses looking to get in touch with corporate events management in the coming weeks, but are struggling for inspiration as to where they will host their gathering, may feel that Edinburgh is the place to go, following a new report.
The Edinburgh Convention Bureau has reported that a further ten team building conferences have been booked in the last 30 days for 2010 and 2011, creating another £5.2 million for the local economy, CIT Magazine revealed.
According to reports, the largest is that of the International Congress of the European Hernia Society, which will bring 1,500 people to the capital of Scotland.
Sue Stuart, the chief executive of the ECB, explained that the last year has been challenging, as expected, yet the organisation has still been a "significant economic benefit" for the city.
She continued: "I can confirm that we are on track to meet our target of achieving economic value of £73.9 million for the city. We also saw our world ranking as a global destination improve this year from 28th to 36th."
At the last measurement between 2000 and 2005, the ECB contributed £262 million to Edinburgh's economy.
