Developers submit £175m plans for conference centre

Date: 27/08/2009

There may be a great chance for companies to host live brand experiences or team building corporate events in the south after plans for a £175 million conference centre were outlined.

Developers in Devon have submitted blueprints to South Hams Council for an event space after four years of consultation with locals, according to the Herald Express, which look to build on Noss Marina and the former Philip and Son shipyard in Dartmouth.

Around £12 million will be invested in affordable housing alongside a Marine Academy and 137 private properties, while the conference centre and offices will also accompany these new developments.

Councillor Debbie Morris, the mayor of Dartmouth, was intrigued by the proposition and said: "We welcome the fact the development has got to this stage and look forward to looking at the plans in due course."

Another event space in Cheshire is receiving backing from the local race company, after the Chester Chronicle announced that an entertainment and conference facility could be built in the city.
