Design of an office is 'major motivator'

Date: 04/01/2010

Businesses wanting to think outside the box when it comes to improving motivation in the workplace may consider moving their tables and chairs around for a more positive environment, it has been stated.

According to a recent survey carried out at the Office Exhibition in the Middle East, around 50 per cent of 1,000 office workers admitted there to be no assessment of workspace comfort.

It also found that only six per cent did not see it as essential to boosting morale, even when used alongside incentives and recognition.

Responding to the survey, Nick Burnett, the design director of CitySpace, said, "We have noticed an increased awareness and ergonomic design considerations across our client projects, but, as the survey clearly shows, there is still some way to go."

About.com detailed how many people may be interesting in looking at the more holistic approach to this, consulting a feng shui master to aid in-room and office design.
