Dell uses sales incentive scheme to boost returns

Date: 26/10/2010

IT equipment specialist Dell has launched a new sales incentive scheme for its partners as it attempts to increase its market share in the business server marketplace.

According to the organisation, every time a partner sells a server bundled with a Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V licence, they will be rewarded.

The sales incentive initiative is part of Dell's PowerEdge campaign, which is part of the wider PartnerAdvantage training and education programme.

Cecile Gouzou, a marketing manager for Dell, said: "The latest incentive campaign focuses on virtualisation solutions with Microsoft Hyper-V and will give individuals even greater incentive to build on this core growth opportunity."

Dell is not the only company which is tailoring its sales incentive programmes to individual partners and staff members.

According to leadership and motivation expert Christian Schappel, no single sales incentive strategy will appeal to every member of staff and firms.

However, Schappel warned that firms need to be consistent with their reward and recognition programmes to ensure they do not alienate staff.
