Employee motivation is low as staff are finding it harder to win claims against their bosses, according to a study.
Allianz Legal Protection has revealed figures which suggest that the number of employees winning claims against their bosses has fallen this year.
Successful employee tribunal cases are at their lowest level for three years.
Claims for unfair dismissal fell by a quarter and redundancy pay claims dropped by 11 per cent.
But although the number of claims has increased in the last quarter, applications have fallen by eight per cent from last year.
Richard Simpkins, lawphone supervisor at Allianz Legal Protection, said: "At first glance these figures appear positive for employers, but it must be remembered that we are yet to see any potential fallout from the public sector job cuts."
Mr Simpkins said it was possible that the decrease in successful claims could be down to 'toughening up' on the part of employee tribunals.
He added: "It may suggest that more unmeritorious claims are reaching a full hearing rather than being settled by negotiation because employers are choosing to defend these claims, rather than to make an offer simply because it is cheaper."
Last week the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development warned that companies would be at risk of low employee motivation and potentially tribunals if they paid their staff too little.
