David Cameron has 'endorsed corporate events management sector'
Date: 16/08/2010
David Cameron's focus on British tourism and hospitality highlights the importance of the corporate events and corporate conferences sector, it has been claimed.
According to the Business Visits & Events Partnership (BVEP), Cameron has openly backed the tourism industry and shown that government ministers understand the important role that hospitality will play in Britain's impending economic recovery.
Chief executive of the BVEP Michael Hirst told Event magazine: "Whilst major sporting events, such as the Olympic Games, all help in attracting international audiences ... we see an equal opportunity for Britain in recognising and supporting the important area of business events, conferences, exhibitions and trade fairs."
He added that as well as pulling in international business visitors, corporate conferences and corporate events management showcased the countries business talent - potentially boosting trade and communication between nations.
Recently Gartner published research claiming that corporate team building events would become more widespread between now and 2020.
